It all began on a used six-burner stove in 1973. Steve Poses’ opened Frog, a little storefront restaurant at 16th and Spruce Streets in Philadelphia. Philadelphia Magazine named Frog Philadelphia’s “Best Restaurant” of the last quarter century. The Commissary restaurant followed a few years later and stands as a landmark in Philadelphia's culinary history. Born of the two, Frog Commissary Catering represents a Philadelphia tradition of innovation and excellence.

The Frog Commissary Cookbook, initially published in 1985, is the best selling cookbook in the region’s history and available today.

Today, more than twelve thousand events later, Frog Commissary Catering relies every day on the same values that drove Frog and The Commissary . Our goal is to imagine, plan and execute delicious and visually stunning events.

Three decades after he helped start a culinary revolution in Philadelphia, Steve Poses is still stirring the pot everyday. Steve works along side Frog Commissary’s team of hospitality professionals. Whether in the kitchen working with the culinary team, in the office planning menus and working with the Event Managers, or at events, 100% of Steve’s professional time is dedicated to Frog Commissary and it’s clients. Together they blend unparalleled experience with a constant drive to innovate.

Frog Commissary is proud of its long history as the exclusive caterer at The Franklin Institute, Independence Seaport Museum, and The Mann Center for the Performing Arts. A great team carries forward the Frog Commissary tradition and continues to set standards in the Philadelphia's hospitality industry.

Today little Frog's used six-burner stove has grown into a state of the art facility in Philadelphia's Northern Liberties neighborhood. Noah’s Kitchen has been added for the production of innovative kosher events.
