Bar and Bat Mitzvahs

Bar & Bat mitzvahs represent an individual’s passage into adulthood in the Jewish community. One thing you don’t need on such an important day is any surprises. Frog has brought their expertise to more of these parties than any other caterer in the region. We create menus that keep the youngsters having fun and the adults talking about the food for weeks to come.

A Winter Bat Mitzvah Luncheon

On the bars
Cumin-scented roasted almonds

Butlered hors d’oeuvres
  • Duck liver pate with peppered pears
  • Angel hair pasta tossed with Thai curry topped with black sesame seeds served in porcelain spoons
  • Petite grilled goat cheese sandwiches on walnut bread with fresh fig jam
  • Little meatloaf sandwiches with tomato jam and pickled onions
  • Grilled eggplant and roasted red onion chutney on pappadams
  • Mustard-crusted tuna loin with horseradish mayonnaise

Small Chinese take-out containers with duck and soba noodle salad
Rum-cured salmon on jicima slaw with mango-mint mojo served in martini glass

Grilled Cheese Bar
  • White cheddar and tomato on sourdough bread
  • Smoked mozzarella and wild mushroom pate with sage on walnut bread
  • Pepperjack with roasted peppers “quesadillas”
  • Muenster, dill and mustard butter on pumpernickel

Luncheon

First Course
Butternut squash soup lightly scented with ginger and cinnamon served in an acorn squash
Served with a miniature thyme muffin
On plate garnished with pepperberries, seeded eucalyptus and nuts

Entrée
Pan-seared striped bass dusted with wild Italian fennel pollen topped with artichoke crisp
Braised fennel, carrots and artichokes
Sautéed greens and butternut squash

Butlered warm sour dough rolls and sweet butter

Dessert
The Commissary’s Classic Strawberry Heart Tarts
Heart-shaped pastry shell lined with chocolate
Filled with Grand Marnier cream and glazed strawberries
Whipped cream

Butlered beverage
Regular and decaffeinated coffee
Assorted teas and infusions

Plates of assorted heart and star cookies
