TFI News: The latest from the Franklin Institute

Special exhibits and fun for the entire family await this holiday season at The Franklin Institute. Travel back in time to ancient China for Terracotta Warriors of the First Emperor and witness 2000-year-old artifacts on loan from Xi’an, China. Five years in the making, this extraordinary exhibition features 10 life-size clay statues and more than 160 artifacts from the burial site of China’s First Emperor. This marks the first time in more than 30 years the warriors will be in Philadelphia, on display in the Nicholas and Athena Karabots Pavilion and the Mandell Center through March 4, 2018. The Franklin Institute curated an exhibit unprecedented in its focus on the science and technology used to build, bury, and excavate the Terracotta Army, one that tells the fascinating story behind the story, culture, craft, and science of one of the greatest archeological discoveries in human history.

And of course, a visit to The Franklin Institute isn’t complete without a tour through the 100,000 square feet of exhibit space featuring displays ranging from the wonders of electricity and the human brain to a full-sized fighter jet and the massive Baldwin Locomotive.

Looking for something different? Experience the thrill of the escape and the excitement of adventure in the new and wildly popular Escape Rooms—a permanent offering now at The Franklin Institute. Using the most advanced cutting-edge technology and awe-inspiring immersive design, Escape Rooms at The Franklin Institute transport guests to one of two different worlds where a series of clues, codes, puzzles and tasks lead teams to achieve an ultimate goal—all within 60 minutes or less. Best experienced as a group, these games will challenge and amuse guests of all ages, encouraging collaboration and creative problem-solving in a fast-paced, live-action setting.

Plus, don’t miss the movie event of the holiday season with the only domed IMAX® screen in the area showing the exclusive engagement of the highly anticipated blockbuster film Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
