Event spaces at Independence Seaport Museum

Whether your event is a corporate function, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, wedding, reception, performance or gala, you have a variety of options to make a lasting impression on guests. Facility rental packages are competitively priced and flexibly designed to accommodate the size and spirit of your function. As a Membership benefit, Corporate Members of the Museum receive a discount on Facility Rental packages. Upon request, private viewing of exhibits can be made available during your event.

Independence Seaport Museum boasts exciting and challenging hands-on activities that have been incorporated into premier historical artifacts offering education and fun. Visitors can climb aboard the cold, hard bunks of an immigrant's journey in a ship's steerage compartment, unload cargo from a container ship using a miniature Kocks crane, weld and rivet a ship's hull or just relax and take an imaginary trip down the Delaware River.

The Spinnaker Room

The Spinnaker Room, located on the museum’s top floor, features an elegant and contemporary ballroom and outdoor deck with panoramic views of the Delaware and city skyline. The Spinnaker Room has a capacity of up to 440 guests for a seated dinner and up to 800 guests for a standing reception.

Depending on the size of your event, the Spinnaker Room has a separate area for pre-reception space and dancing within the room itself. Its versatile layout allows for a variety of set-up options. The huge floor to ceiling windows that overlook the Delaware create a décor no other room in the region can offer.

The Dining Room on the Delaware

The Dining Room on the Delaware is a spacious tented terrace, which can be formal or casual. A few steps away and up a grand staircase, the Captain’s Rotunda offers a scenic outdoor overlook of the river, perfect for any occasion. Up to 250 guests for a seated dinner up to 400 guests for a standing reception

The Concert Hall

A special feature of Independence Seaport Museum is the availability of a large theater space; The Concert Hall is an acoustically acclaimed theater available for meetings or entertainment with comfortable seating up to 530. First-class production management is exclusively provided.

The Bridge

Ideal for a pre-function reception, The Bridge offers a dramatic prelude to the maritime exhibits in the Museum’s Main Galleries. The Bridge has a capacity of up to 300 guests for a standing reception.

The USS Olympia & Becuna Submarine

As part of its mission to preserve America's maritime heritage, Independence Seaport Museum maintains several vessels including the USS Olympia & Becuna Submarine. Both are available to enhance any corporate or family event. What Floats Your Boat? The Museum’s Newest Permanent Installation

Climb into a boat that sits on a waterbed, put weights in different places on a model boat to study its center of gravity, or pull different shapes through a ten-foot tank of water to examine how drag affects speed. Take on the role of boat builder in our wooden boat workshop and assemble a four-foot wooden boat puzzle. And further on, the curious can walk or crawl through a full size replica of a 22-foot 19th century Delaware River Shad Skiff. What Floats Your Boat? is a must-do experience for all!

Weddings at Independence Seaport Museum

As a bride or bridegroom you could not ask for a more beautiful backdrop for your ceremony than the scenic and historic Delaware River and surrounding waterfront area. Your guests can gather on one of the museums decks to enjoy the ceremony and then have cocktails and hors d’ouevres on the deck of the Spinnaker Room. The museum is ADA accessible and is just 15 minutes from Philadelphia International Airport, minutes from Center City and is within walking distance of Philadelphia’s Historic District.
